What a difference a year makes! Last year this time the community was abuzz with the Board of Education campaigners. This year there is a quiet hush all over the town.
This quietness can be a good thing-- meaning the community is pleased with the progress the Board is making. OR, it could be a bad thing -- meaning people have checked out of the process. I pray it is not the latter!
Well, over the next week I will introduce you to 3 of the 4 candidates. The 4th is a 12 year incumbent so he’ll need no introduction here. The purpose of this blogging foray is to provide the community with a brief introduction of the new individuals campaigning for this very important responsibility.
So....let's get started!
Mr. Alex Edache
Mr. Edache is concerned about the educational opportunities available to the children of Plainfield. He would like to utilize his professional and personal training and experiences to help support the Board’s current objectives to improve the educational system in our city while continuing the forward momentum that has been gained over the past year.
He has been a proud resident of Plainfield since 1998.
Mr. Edache has a Bachelor Degree in Land Surveying from Nigeria, and a Diploma in Nursing from the US.
He currently works in a major medical health care facility, and is a realtor for the Plainfield area.
He taught high school physics and mathematics.
Alex served as a deacon in his local church in Nigeria. He currently attends Cathedral International here in Plainfield and serves as a youth leader. He also has served in one of Plainfield’s soup kitchen weekly since 2000.
Plainfield Community -- please welcome Mr. Alex Edache, a 2011 Board of Education Candidate.
I know that Mr. Edache works for John and Wilma Campbell's real estate office. I think its good for that to be disclosed so that no one thinks he is trying to hide anything. I know him and like him
ReplyDeleteI think in fairness to Mr. Edache he did not supply the names of any companies he worked for...but if you think that fact matters...even a little bit -- so let it be written.
ReplyDeleteIf we are to have honesty in elections, full disclosure including any potential ethical or conflict issues is essential. To gloss over that fact is not in the public's interests.

I offer here an introduction of the candidate as the citizentry -- DO COME prepared to ask the questions you need answered.

ReplyDeleteIf you think I was critical of you because the "CVs" you printed lack essentials, you are wrong. If you printed only what was supplied that is excusable, But I might have asked for more info.before going public.
I,for one, know nothing about any of the three. Indeed the first time I was aware of their names or existence was when the list of Candidates was made public.
I do not understand "To put it out there as you have without specificity -- if there is any -- is duplicitous!". Here am I guilty of being "Given to or marked by deliberate deceptiveness in behavior or speech"?
I don't believe that I wrote anything bad about anyone. However it is up to the voter to decide if there could be any ethical problem including potential conflict of interest.
To do so, complete disclosure is needed. The voter should not have to go to the LWV forum and hope the right question is asked. The BOE is to important to not have absolute transparency on all candidates.
O’contrare, I am responding to what you wrote, or rather what you didn’t write and therefore what was implied simply by you writing it in the first place. Duplicitous in the sense that you held back what it was you were questioning but put forth that there was something questionable. If that is not what you meant -- that is certainly how I read it.

What exactly did you mean here? To write such a statement without any specific implies that you ‘perceived’ something posted (or not posted) exist.
My question to YOU is WHAT is the missing information? What prompted you to write this comment?
Then you said – “To gloss over that fact is not in the public's interests.”
So the accusation here (at least to me)is that “I” somehow had decided to gloss over the facts. When all I did was post what was given, and although you may have probed – that is certainly your prerogative. I chose not to –that is my prerogative.
And finally, I totally degree with your last statement – I think that the forums are EXACTLY the place to vet the candidates. This is what it is for…
