  1. AYP is not the only SES provider. Good post on services, but for detailed information parents can visit the schools. They have information on all the programs and services available.

  2. AYP may not be the only ones...but they are the only ones that reachout to the community to let it be known this service exists. The least I could do is post it for parents. Now let the conversations BEGIN!

  3. Hello,

I would like to thank you for posting this information.

    Parents may also visit http://www.nj.gov/education/title1/program/ss/providers/apprv-1011/

This site will list every NJDOE approved provider and info about their program.

We just want to ensure that as many families as possible know about this service.

  4. Hello-

I contacted Tiffany at AYP and I was told that PAAAS school (the school my daughter attends), is not eligible for free programs but they have rates that start at $95/month. I don't mind paying the rate, as my daughter needs help with Algebra, however PAAAS is a school in the Plainfield Public School System, why isn't this an approved school?

  5. That doesn't make any sense at all. Talk with The school's prinicpal to see what services they are offering. Let me know. (Renata)

  7. Hello
The free tutoring program falls under the No Child Left Behind Act of 2002 which states that a school designated "In Need Of Improvement" must offer the income eligible students in that school either school choice or supplementary education services (free tutoring)
A school is designated as "In Need of Improvement" if it does not make AYP (Adequate Yearly Progress) for 2 consecutive years. This means that the students have not met the State's minimum requirements.

PAAAS does not meet this criteria. I have to double check, but Im quite sure it is because the school has made AYP.
The current eligible Plainfield schools are Hubbard, Maxson, Cedarbrook, Emerson, Barlow, and Evergreen.

If you got to the NJDOE website---Grants----EWEG------NCLB----Search for Plainfield-- you will be able to see how the NCLB funds have been allocated to the various schools in the district. It is all public record.
I hope that this clarifies things.
